Riding Program:
"The horse experience is central at WTR. The riding program is suited for every ability--whether you are a timid beginner or an avid rider. They own a herd of 70 horses, many were born on the ranch. They match their horses to your ability, and offer plenty of riding variety: Riding instruction, half and all day trail rides, cattle work, a gymkhana, and private lessons.
Trail rides explore the spectacular Piedra Wilderness Area surrounding the ranch, and our wranglers stress safety and learning. The philosophy is the more you learn about horses, the less you fear, and the more fun you will have."
If trail riding is not enough join the Cattle workshop and learn how to manage the herd and play rodeo arena games or try a natural horsemanship clinic.
Adult rides are divided according to ability, and all groups have the opportunity for half-day and spectacular all-day trail rides. Regardless of your level of skill, you will have the opportunity to learn something new. The terrain is rugged, but there are open areas for controlled trotting and cantering.
Other Activities:
Activities you can enjoy beyond horseback riding include hiking, fishing, water skiing, Mesa-Verde tour (Oldest discovered indian ruins in the US), river rafting, dance lessons, hay ride, campfire sing-along, live music and dancing, massage therapy, and much more.
We can arrange for trips on the Durango - Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway and top-quality guided fly fishing on the San Juan River.
Relax by our 72-foot heated swimming pool, soak in the hot tub, or simply enjoy sitting on the front porch watching the day fade into a magnificent star-filled night. On this vacation you won't be at a loss for things to do!

Cabins:
The ranch has clean, well-appointed, rustic cabins nestled amongst pines, fir, spruce and aspen trees. Two bedroom, two bath Ponderosa cabins and three bedroom, three bath Cabin Suites sleep 3-6 folks. . All private baths have shower/tub combinations. All cabins have coffee makers, refrigerators, iron, ironing boards, decks, and daily maid service
Food:
Bring along your appetite, as meal times are always extra special. Wilderness Trails has a full time Cordon Bleu trained Execuitive Certifited Chef -- so whether it’s a scrumptious breakfast, Mexican, Italian, seafood, steak, vegetarian, buffets or cookouts, you’ll LOVE the food! The Chef prepares a broad menu each week. Breakfasts are to order. Lunch buffets feature plenty of fruits and salads. Dinners are exceptional; ranging from steak and fish cookouts, to prime rib, turkey, and, of course, our gourmet Thursday night feasts.
